A Short Biography of the Clock Makers:
Michael and Dolores Miller
Michael and Dolores came from Buffalo, N. Y. by way of Cleveland, OH. to San Diego, Ca. in 1967. Shortly after arriving they opened a small restaurant which operated for tweny-five years. The name was the Little Cafe. It was hard work, but gratifying. They created recipes and the people loved the food and them.
When Michael and Dolores retired from the restaurant, they felt the need to do something creative. One day they went to the local county fair and saw a man demonstrating a scroll saw. After watching him for a few hours, they decided this was for us. A very good friend helped them learn how to cut the wood. Michael and Dolores have been making clocks, puzzles, plates, trivets, and other items ever since. Their work has also been juried into several art shows throughout San Diego County.
Michael is also a Korean War Veteran. He enlisted at the age of 17 and was sent to Korea in 1950 where he was injured. After a month in the hospital he rejoined his unit "The Recognizance Company of the 24th Infantry Division." He was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant in September of 1952. After returning home he contacted Malaria and was hospitalized at the VA hospital in Buffalo. It was shortly after his release that he met Dolores. Michael invites anyone that was in his Army company to contact him via email.
