Michael and Dolores met Forest and Pearl at mandolin orchestra practice.
With time on their hands, they started to get together and practice to improve their playing. Several years ago the group was invited to play for an Alzheimer Clinic. These are Dolores' words about the first time playing for the clinic:
"We did not know what to expect as when we arrived. The people were just
sitting around with no expressions on their faces. Once we started playing,
the people came alive, singing, clapping, and even dancing. When we were
leaving, several people came up and said they really liked our music."
As a result of this wonderful experience The Four Friends Quartet now play
at many Alzheimer's centers throughout the city as well as at several retirement
homes.
